Emmanuelle Rienda is a creative director and animal rights activist born in Clermont-Ferrand, France in 1983. After moving to the United States in 2008, Emmanuelle opened Le Frenchlab, a showroom based in Los Angeles representing french designers in the US market. Her unique eye led her to receive the support from the French Embassy and she made it to the cover of Apparel News with her LA Fashion Week event FRE(n)SH. She was a vegetarian at the time.
In 2016, her love for the animals and her personal journey led her to adopt a vegan lifestyle, she felt disconnected with her career and decided to stop promoting the use of leather, wool, exotic skins, feathers and sometimes fur in magazines or boutiques on behalf of designers. She closed her showroom and purged her wardrobe of all animal materials. Emmanuelle believes veganism is the new social justice movement of the century. A genuine response to the global issues our planet is facing. She is educating her audience about speciesism, animal rights, social justice, circularity & intersectionality. Emmanuelle wants to ignite conversations and debates within the industry by educating, elevating and drawing connections between our most important values; our respect for human life, animal rights and the environment.
As a response to her craving for a new direction, she explored her love for vegan fashion and started styling celebrities. She found hope in the new generation such as Disney’s rising star Olivia Rodrigo, asking to be dressed in animal-free fashion.
After discovering a new wave of vegan fashion & textile designers, her vision led her to launch The Future of Fashion conference series, bringing together forward-thinking leaders and advocates of sustainable fashion to discuss smart, ethical and cutting edge alternatives. The concept received the support of Fashion Revolution, PETA, and the attention of Kanye West, Calvin Klein, Disney and Lucky Brand among experts in the industry. The first event was hosted by LA TEXTILE, the fashion industry’s premier West Coast destination for textile, design and production resources from around the globe. The conference was sold out. Strong from this positive experience, she decided to launch Vegan Fashion Week.
